FIGAROU is our innovative solution for indexing and retrieving videos in large archives. Its core consists of one of the best image understanding engines worldwide. FIGAROU can be used in one of two ways: for detecting motions or faces in observation cameras or for searching images and videos in large archives.

Companies who want to observe parking lots, entrance gates of teller machines can analyse the videos in order to identify motions, faces, jackets, etc. When goal objects are clearly formulated, the FIGAROU engine can even be applied operationally by immediately sending alarm notifications.

Companies owning a large archive can search with FIGAROU for people, scenes, objects and other relevant information. At first all videos and images have to be tagged with its essential information. This usually very time consuming task can be carried out with multiprocessor speed. The search task itself uses the precomputed tags and is thus extremely fast.

By using FIGAROU owners of archives like newspapers and libraries can search over their historically collected videos and images. Providers of video databases usually require the videos to be manually tagged. This is impossible for archives which arose over decades of time. FIGAROU can automatically build the tags and saves a lot of time and costs.
